Format:
● Two-person team challenge: best-ball (scratch & net); 72 holes (first 4 rounds)
● Singles challenge: medalist (scratch & net); 36 holes (last 2 rounds)
● Optional skins game each round
Included: Accommodations (twin ensuite rooms), green fees, a great breakfast every morning, six dinners, ultra-modern and comfortable coach transportation with a driver/guide.
Not included: Airfare, food not specified as included, caddies, trolleys or buggies, souvenirs, tips, any entry fees to attractions or parks.
Itinerary
Friday May 22: Depart U.S. to Shannon Airport Ireland. Departure city based on client location. Client responsible for flight booking and airfare.
Saturday May 23: Arrive Shannon Airport Ireland, meet the driver, drive to Diamond Coast Hotel in Enniscrone, Ireland.
Rest and relaxation after traveling or optional 9-hole warm-up round at Enniscrone Golf Club for those wishing to stay in motion.
Sunday May 24: Enniscrone Golf Club, 2:50-3:40 tee times; dinner after round at Enniscrone Club House (included).
Monday May 25: Carne Golf Links, 12:50-1:40 tee times; welcome dinner after round at Carne Clubhouse (included). After welcome dinner, drive to Lough Eske Castle Hotel in County Donegal (5 nights).
Tuesday May 26: Narin & Portnoo Links, 11:00-11:50 tee times; dinner & pint after golf at clubhouse (included).
Wednesday May 27: Day off for optional sightseeing, extra golf, or whiskey tasting. Ends with a pint and gourmet dinner at The Olde Glen (included).
Thursday May 28: Portsalon Golf Club, 11:10-12:00 tee times; dinner at Lough Eske Castle Hotel (included).
Friday May 29: County Sligo Golf Club, 11:50-12:40 tee times; dinner at Harvey's Point (included).
Saturday May 30: Donegal Golf Club 10:40-11:30 (eat a bite after round- not included) then drive to Park Inn.
Sunday May 31: Breakfast at the Park Inn. Depart Shannon Airport Ireland to U.S. after breakfast.

When I first went to Ireland to play golf in 2006, the west and northwest part of the country was my favorite. The courses then all seemed like “hidden gems” and were reasonably priced and usually not crowded. The feel was very authentic, and the scenery was spectacular.
Twenty years later, no place in Ireland is “undiscovered.” Yet everything I love about this area and these courses remains true and I return to play alone and with friends whenever I can. All of the courses we are playing on this trip are real Irish member golf clubs- less well-known than some, but every one is ranked in the top 25 courses in the Irish Republic. They are not resort courses and they are not “golf factories.” Many of the “bucket list” courses in Ireland and Scotland, while being terrific golf courses, are set-up to maximize revenue from overseas bookings. The courses are full of non-Irish golfers, the rounds can be very slow, and the green fees are very expensive.
The courses in our itinerary are different. Here you will meet people who love links golf for what it is, not golf tourists looking to tick off another box on a well-worn list of the most famous courses in Great Britain & Ireland. Our first two courses will be Enniscrone Golf Club and Carne Golf Links. Both are wonderful introductions to Irish seaside sandhill links courses- challenging and beautiful. Carne, out on the tip of County Mayo, is particularly remote and spectacular.
Narin & Portnoo Links, on the wild Atlantic coast of County Donegal, is our next stop. Recently renovated by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner, N&P has now found a secure place in any golf itinerary to County Donegal. Moving further north into County Donegal, we find Portsalon Golf Club, whose opening holes flow along the magnificent Ballymastocker Beach. Often overlooked in favor of the better-known courses at Rosapenna Resort, Portsalon has been a favorite of many golfers that we have brought to this area.
Heading south into County Sligo, we find arguably the most well-known of all of the courses on the itinerary-County Sligo Golf Club. Sligo, or Rosses Point as it is known locally, is home to the West of Ireland Championship, won twice by a teenage Rory McIlroy. Finally, the trip concludes on the Murvagh Peninsula outside of Donegal Town at Donegal Golf Club. Quietly beautiful, but a challenging way to finish off our trip to northwest Ireland.
Note: We will have a free day on Wednesday that can be used for relaxing, sightseeing or some extra golf.
Our first two nights will be spent at the 4* Diamond Coast Hotel in the seaside resort town of Enniscrone in County Sligo. This is a modern, comfortable hotel that will feed you a good Irish breakfast each morning before heading out to play. The home base of the trip (5 nights) will be The Lough Eske Castle Hotel, a 5* gem with indoor swimming pool and spa as well as great bars and restaurants. It will be a great home to come back to each night after traveling the narrow, sheep filled roads of County Donegal.
Finally, our last night will be spent at the Park Inn, a modest airport hotel that punches above its weight by being a minute’s walk away from the terminal at Shannon airport where you will go through US customs preclearance in Ireland so you arrive in the United States as if you were a domestic passenger- just walk off the plane!

Buddy Golf Tour
The classic golf trip to Ireland or Scotland. You talk to a few of your regular golfing friends and ask if they would like HEATHER & GORSE to plan and organize an affordable tour to Ireland or Scotland and play golf on world famous links courses. Your group can decide on the desired balance of golf and sightseeing.
Couples, Dads & Daughters, Moms & Sons, and Grandparents Golf Tours
Would you like to golf and/or sightsee with your spouse or significant other...or a large group of couples from your local golf course? Have you always dreamed of taking a Moms, Dads & Daughters or Moms, Dads & Sons golf trip to Ireland or Scotland? HEATHER & GORSE has the solution. If only one of you wants to golf, one partner can golf while the other goes on optional sightseeing tours. We can arrange the sightseeing activities according to the interests of the participants.
PGA Pro-led Golf Tour
Since Heather & Gorse can work directly with members of specific golf clubs, sometimes the PGA Professional at a particular course will take the lead and work with HEATHER & GORSE to plan and organize personalized and affordable golf trips to Ireland and Scotland for club members.
College Golf Team/Corporate Golf Tour
HEATHER & GORSE can work with college golf coaches to create unique opportunities for their team to enjoy the experience of links golf. This is a great opportunity for team building and we will keep trip costs reasonable. Corporate trips can be anything from a small team-building exercise with golf as the vehicle to a full-blown experience for corporate leaders and their business partners.
Golf With Heather & Gorse
One of the owners of HEATHER & GORSE will plan an Ireland/Scotland golf tour...and you can join them! He will personally lead the tour, play golf with you, and serve as a guide to help with any and all questions that participants have. A pre-trip meet & greet will be arranged so that the entire group can get to know each other before leaving for Ireland or Scotland. A minimum of 10 golfers required. The "Golf with HEATHER & GORSE" option is also available for couples' trips.
